Text Box: Matthias Horvath

Matthias was born in Zurich and grew up with two cultures and mentalities.

He got in touch with photography in his childhood through his father whose passion was photography since decades. He started with developing B&W films at home and performing copies in his own photo darkroom.

Later on he experimented by creating his own B&W slides (negative-negative=positive technique). The focus on infrared (IR) photography got brought to him by his father who used B&W IR films for technical reasons in his work. He started using the "leftovers" and experiment with them. Instead of sensor detection testing, he preferred landscapes and architecture.

Since a couple of years he swapped from analogue to digital photography, which offers impressive possibilities and challenges for IR-photography.

Before exhibiting in Zug he has put forward his works in Zurich and Madrid.
